Ezekiel

From the Hebrew Yəḥezqē’l, meaning 'God strengthens.' It belonged to the Old Testament prophet known for visions of rotating celestial machinery. English Puritans revived it during the Reformation, and it crossed to New England in the seventeenth century, lingering in small rural pockets for generations before a steep twenty-first-century resurgence.

The name reads less like an austere prophet and more like a middle schooler with untied sneakers. It looks formidable on an eighteenth-century tax list, but sounds entirely normal on a modern soccer field. With an estimated average age of twelve, it belongs overwhelmingly to childhood. The prophet saw wheels within wheels; today the name mostly sees middle-school homeroom.
