Felix

From the Latin adjective for lucky or fruitful, famously adopted as an agnomen by the Roman general Sulla. It circulated steadily through continental Europe before settling into modest, persistent use in late nineteenth-century America. Recent decades converted it from a historical oddity into an active nursery staple.

A Felix reads as someone who repairs pocket watches or keeps an orderly collection of fountain pens. For decades the name belonged mainly to cartoon cats and fastidious fictional roommates, but recent registration counts have rewritten the picture entirely. Today, a Felix is statistically far more likely to be negotiating preschool snack time than organizing a card catalog.
