Tricia

Derived as a shortened form of Patricia, from the Latin patricius, meaning noble or of the patrician class. It operated as an informal domestic nickname for decades before entering the register as a standalone legal name in 1939. Its popularity climbed sharply in the late 1960s, driven in part by White House coverage of Richard Nixon's elder daughter.

The name places its bearer squarely in the early 1970s, usually somewhere near a cassette deck or a macramé plant hanger. It reads as casual and approachable, stripped of the heavier Latinate polish found on its parent name, Patricia. Today, an estimated two-thirds of all living Tricias belong to Generation X. It has largely vanished from maternity wards without ever quite becoming antique.
