Tristen

Derived from the Celtic name Tristan, popularized by the medieval romance of Tristan and Iseult and historically linked to the Pictish name Drust. The spelling with an interior 'e' did not register in American records until 1968. It caught on as late-twentieth-century parents began tailoring traditional Arthurian names with alternative vowels.

A Tristen is overwhelmingly likely to have arrived after the dial-up era began. The name reads as brisk, athletic, and firmly attached to the turn of the millennium. It carries none of the heavy antiquity of its medieval roots, having been thoroughly streamlined for suburban cul-de-sacs.
