Lenora

A truncated form of Leonora or Eleanor, originating from the Provençal Aliénor of obscure Occitan roots. It settled into English usage during the nineteenth century, bolstered by romantic poetry and stage adaptations. American parents adopted it steadily from the late nineteenth century as a lighter alternative to Eleanor.

The name suggests lace curtains, sheet music stands, and quiet competence. It carries the weight of a great-aunt while neatly sidestepping the ubiquity of modern Nora. Today it is more likely to be found on an infant in a stroller than a high school roster. It sounds like someone who keeps spare reading glasses in multiple rooms.
